Funding Opportunities at Brown

Global Health Institute Funding Sources

GHI has funded 140 undergraduate students, medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows since 2010, conducting research in 36 countries.

Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships in Public Health

These are offered through a partnership between the Fulbright Program and the Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. These awards were established to promote the expansion of research in public health and clinical research in resource-limited settings.

Graduate School Travel Funds

The Graduate School provides support for doctoral and master's students traveling for research, to present at conferences, and for other scholarly activities.

Research Mobility Fellowship

The Research Mobility Fellowship program supports doctoral students who seek to conduct pre-dissertation or dissertation research during one academic year semester.

Venture Development Funds

Venture support funds through the Nelson Center are designed with a loose “path” in mind, one consistent with their structured approach to venture creation.

Internal Research Funding Opportunities

The Division of Research manages Brown’s institutional-level internal funding streams.

Research Assitantships

Research assistantships are awarded to new as well as continuing students. More than any other type of support, RAs are tied to grant-related funding and are thus administered independently by each program. For more information, students should contact their program’s director of graduate study.

Swearer Center: Fellowships and Programs

Swearer Center fellowships and programs empower students to make meaningful contributions and effect positive change in the world. Explore undergraduate and graduate opportunities to learn about eligibility and application timelines.
