Max Clermont is a Senior Project Lead with Partners In Health’s United States where he leads technical, operational and strategic support to public health departments working to become more resilient, community-oriented, and equity-first health systems. He was a Chief of Staff & Associate Director for Community Health Engagement at UChicago Medicine’s Trauma Center. He has also held positions with Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse, 270 Strategies, and Obama for America. He holds a M.P.H. from Brown University’s School of Public Health with a concentration in health services, policy & practice. He serves on the President’s Communications Advisory Council at Brown University and is on the board of directors for Health & Medicine Policy Research Group and Center on Halsted. Additionally, he is on the board of advisors for Democracy Policy Network, Harmony Labs, and is a member of Cambridge's Charter Review Committee. 

Kori Otero is a Clinical Research Coordinator contractor for Merck. She was a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of Virginia, and a PRIDEMS Intern at the Rhode Island Department of Health. She is a recent MPH, Epidemiology graduate at Brown University School of Public Health. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health at the University of Kentucky where she held membership and leadership positions at University of Kentucky Student Public Health Association, Students Helping Honduras, and Red Shoe Crew. In this talk, we will talk about her academic journey into public health at the undergraduate and graduate levels, her internship and research experiences, influential experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and her tailored journey in the exciting world of Clinical Research.

Cindy Abarca is a Senior Consultant at West Monroe. She was also a Fulbright Scholar, a Life Sciences /Public Health Consultant at Guidehouse, an Administrative Resident for Consulting Services and Supply Chain Management at Kaiser Permanente. She recently earned her MPH, Public Health at Brown University School of Public Health. Her MPH thesis title: The impact of Colombia’s Subsidized Health Insurance on preventive care utilization using instrumental variables. She also received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Honors in Public Health at Brown University and her Honors Thesis title: Examining Metropolitan Status and HPV Vaccination among US Women and Men ages 18-26 using 2012 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data. She also recently graduated with a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Southern California. In this talk, we will discuss the impact that public health has had on her career path, the benefits of multiple graduate degrees, memorable courses as a graduate and undergraduate student at Brown University, and the greatest career lessons learned to her path as a Senior Consultant!

Gregorio Benitez is a Clinical Research Assistant with the Infectious Diseases Division at Rhode Island Hospital. His past experiences include being an Epidemiologist at the Rhode Island Department of Health and a Research Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania. He recently graduated with his Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology at Brown University School of Public Health. In this informative discussion Gregorio will discuss imposter syndrome, how the MPH is central to his career plans, the dual degree pursuit, finding belonging at an elite university, and the importance in paying it forward.

Meghan Gonsalves is a Neuroscience PhD candidate at Brown University. She is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the White Laboratory of Affective Neuroscience, a Graduate Writing Associate at Sheridan Center, and a Graduate Research Assistant at Butler Hospital. She was also a Health Communications Scholar at Brown University School of Public Health. She graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience, and a Master of Science in Behavioral and Social Health Sciences. Her dissertation title: Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Major Depression: Effects on Neocortical Metabolites. In this talk we will discuss her journey to doctoral student life, influential courses she took at Brown prior to her doctoral studies, and the journey of her current career path in the exciting field of neuroscience.

 

Yufei Li is a Data Analyst at VA Boston Healthcare System. She was a Health Care Affairs Research Fellow for the Association of American Medical Colleges. She graduated in 2021 with her Master of Public Health from Brown University. In this talk, we discussed her time as a graduate student at the School of Public Health and her career path to becoming a Data Analyst!

Ayla Durst is a Research Project Manager Project Manager at Brown University Center for Alcohol & Addiction Studies and a 2016 graduate of the Master's in Behavioral and Social Health Sciences at Brown University School of Public Health. Her research interests and methodologies include alcohol/substance use, HIV, sexual risk behavior, qualitative data, and MISC coding. In this talk, we discussed her time as a graduate student at the School of Public Health, pursuing a career outside of academia, and lessons learned during her path in becoming a Research Project Manager!
